As part of a drive to improve the estate in their Dam Park campus in Ayr, Ayrshire College selected Thomson Hunter through an open tendering process to bring modern, light and effective refurbishment of existing facilities.

The client understood that the existing building and facilities were becoming dated, and over the years, use and alteration had resulted in a loss of the originally intended effect of light and openness in the spaces. Combining a need to adapt modern fire regulations and strategies with the modern college experience resulted in a challenging project.

Thomson Hunter provided modern proposals meeting current regulations, designed to enhance the general usability and the use of light within the building through innovative alterations and redesigning of the structure and fabric of the existing building. What resulted was a unique and alternative solution, fully meeting the College’s original brief.
